Reasons to do Yoga in Morning.
No time like now:
The
phone does not ring at 6:00. No one needs your attention because
more than likely they are all still asleep. 6:00am is a perfect
time to get your workout in. In the evening when you were planning
to get this in that may not be true. One phone call or potential
fire at work can put all your best attentions to waste. Plus once
you finish at 7:00 it is in the can one less thing on your to
do list.
Build a healthy, consistent
exercise routine:
Studies have
shown that 90% of those who exercise regularly are AM exercisers.
Something about having an established morning routine encourages
people to stick with it. The odds are in your favor for creating
responsible exercise habits when you choose to get your workout
in early.
Learn to motivate yourself:
There's nothing
like the feeling that comes from creating a plan, following it,
and achieving your goals. By doing your yoga early in the morning,
you will strengthen your mental resolve. Imagine being completely
done with the day's exercise before 7 AM? The feeling of self-empowerment
that comes from being disciplined in your routine will bring mental
strength into other areas of your life as well.
Be more productive throughout
the day:
Early morning yoga
will get your brain juices flowing. In some cases, increased mental
activity was recorded for up to ten hours following completion
of yoga in controlled lab studies. So around 4:00pm when everyone
is tired, you will be alert. This means that you will be able
to accomplish more in less time during your day, whether it's
getting the kids out the door or taking charge at the office.
Increase you metabolic rate:
Getting a
sweat on early (hot yoga) wakes you up mentally, studies have
shown that yoga early in the morning has the additional benefit
of waking up your metabolism. In some cases, elevated metabolisms
for periods of up to 24 hours were recorded. This means that simply
by being proactive in the morning, you will burn more calories
throughout your entire day. Furthermore, AM yoga tends to diminish
your appetite throughout the day; therefore, you will be taking
in fewer calories while burning more.
Regulate your sleep rhythm:
Once you
make yoga in the morning part of your routine, your body becomes
accustomed to getting up at the same time ever day. It will begin
to get you ready to wake up on time, which means that you will
awake feeling fully energized and alert. The more you do it, the
more enhanced the feeling becomes. As you regulate your sleep
cycles, the feeling of confusion upon arousal from sleep due to
wildly changing sleep times will vanish. Lastly, by exercising
early in the morning you avoid the PM adrenalin rush that keeps
PM exercisers from sleeping as well as they would otherwise. You
will sleep better, wake up earlier, and feel better over the entire
course of the day.
The Warrior cult thing:
By joining
your friends at this early time you now are someone that is breaking
away from the pack. Wake up, you are a warrior.
What are you waiting for?
Go for it. Hot Power Yoga Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the
Shockra Salon Yoga studio.
What
is Hot Power Yoga?
Hot Power Yoga
is about bringing out our own personal power that we all have
inside us. This type of Yoga is done at temperatures between 85
- 90 degrees. . By adding heat we allow the muscles to loosen
up quicker allowing you to go deeper into poses along with helping
the body to detoxify fully. Hot Power Yoga is an off shoot of
Ashtanga Yoga. Unlike the physical practice of Ashtanga that moves
through the same postures (poses) in a group or series, we take
liberally from the thousands of poses to create a practice that
works on the breath, balance, strength, core power and flexibility
creating a unique practice every time. Using the power of grounding
and extension we stretch while strengthening the body, giving
you the highest level of energy, vitality and freedom. One must
work with yourself, not against yourself. By working hard sensitively,
we create an environment that's healing and honors each individual.
Don
Silva CYT
Yoga
has been a long strange trip for Don - with over 20 years in the
high tech industry exercise was a refuge from the stress. Over
the years he has done triathlons, mountain biked, ran, weight
lifted and been the ultimate couch potato. Don sought out yoga
as a means of bringing flexibility to his weight lifting body.
What he discovered after his very first yoga class was a state
of being he calls the "yoga buzz" It was a state of being where
his body and mind came together filled with peace. It wasn't long
before yoga became his primary stress reliever. Don has studied
many styles of yoga - Bikram, Ashtanga, Anusara, Vinyasa, and
Power yoga. He has studied with many master teachers to improve
his practice including D'ana Baptiste, Bryan Kest, Baron Baptiste
and Rolf Gates. Finally in December 2006 Don completed a 500 hour
teacher training to become a certified instructor through the
D'Ana Baptiste Centered City Yoga Certification program in Salt
Lake City, Utah. His teaching style is direct yet playful, working
on not just the body but the mind and spirit as well. Always remember
Yoga is fun so smile and breathe.
